Exploring Opportunities for Expanding CoreTrustSeal Certification to Meet Community Needs

CoreTrustSeal is a community-based nonprofit organization that promotes sustainable and trustworthy data infrastructures by offering professional certification tools and services for data repositories and preservation-focussed institutions around the globe.

Applications and enquiries for CoreTrustSeal reviews are increasing, along with the diversity of organizations applying for certification. In addition to the traditional domain data repositories that are seeking certification, applicants include infrastructure providers, repository software providers, bit-level replication services, and national archives, as well as commercial services designed to help preserve and protect research data and the world’s digital legacy. We are delighted to help provide certification tools to this increasing scope of applicants, and we are investigating how CoreTrustSeal certification might best serve the needs of the community and ensure trustworthiness in a complicated and evolving landscape. As we examine the characteristics of these new, diverse types of applications, we will strive to find them a home in our CoreTrustSeal family.

To assist us as we begin this conversation towards the potential expansion of CoreTrustSeal certification, we invite inputs and feedback to help shape our inclusive environment. If you are interested in sharing your ideas on this topic, please submit your comments in the form below.
